Easily five stars - if it were different
I was basically writing this app for myself because I wanted an easy way to transfer files between my iPad and iPhone when in areas without WiFi (send image/whatever to iPhone from iPad over Bluetooth and then send the file to whomever from the phone).
This app does it all, and it does it very well.
The one thing it doesnt do, and I cant believe this, is let me send an image from my photo library. As it is, if I want to send an image, it had to be created within this app - that is, I have to create the file, then go into the "editor" and scribble out some doodle that has zero use. I can make a few lines. Maybe a circle of I try really hard. Something square-ish.
What I *want* to transfer is a photo from my iPads photo library. I cant begin to understand why the developers would have gone this far - created an app this nice - only to stop short of adding a feature thats *built in* to the platform. Its *easier* to write an app that imports photos than it is to write one that lets you doodle.
I dont want to add to this review, but my mind is so boggled and confused and filled with a traffic-jam of "Really?"s and "For serous?"s that I cant stop.
Why? Why? Why? *Why* cant I just import a photo from my photo library? Or a video?
Scratch the videos. An image would be fine. Just an image. Imported. From my photo library.
I dont understand. It would take these devs all of five minutes to add the code to import photos. Its *so easy*.
Thats why Im giving this one star. I truly cannot understand how anyone could write this app and overlook something so fundamental as importing images from the photo library when image creation and transfer is one of the main features.
It would take days at the least to write the scribble-editor. *Who would want to send those?* Its like faxing a bad felt-drawing on a napkin. Who would do that? What purpose does that serve?
This isnt a painting app. I have Sketchbook Pro for that. What I *want* to do, for example, is import things Ive drawn with Sketchbook Pro (after Ive exported from Sketchbook Pro to the photo library) and then transmit them to my phone.
Thats all. Thats it. And its so easy. So easy that I cant take it. Every iPhone development book has sample code on how to do it. Apple does most of the work for you. Its practically just a button, a few lines of code, and... *thats it*.
My mind is stopped. The clockwork is all gummed up and weird.
I was wondering why this app was so reasonably priced. Its SO close to being what I need, but falls just short enough that it feels like you did it intentionally. Like this is punishment for something I did in life.
I might go finish writing my own. Spending two bucks on someone elses is a far better use of my time, but if it cant do something as simple as import images (which it seems every app under the sun does - even ones that have no reason at all to do it), then... maybe I was right to build my own.
Sigh.
Five stars if you let me import images from my photo library.
Sigh. Sigh, sigh, sigh...
Sigh.
